KIWI CONTAX

Kiwi Contax is a TLC Trust initiative that works with refugees and asylum seekers (those seeking refugee status) upon their arrival to New Zealand.   Often arriving in a new country and culture can be a difficult and challenging time , especially for those who have come from dangerous or challenging environments without family or friends.

Kiwi Contax aims to provide a variety of mechanisms by which refugees and asylum seekers can gain assistance and be empowered to start a new life here in New Zealand.

Kiwi Contax holds monthly events which connect with many of those who have recently arrived in New Zealand.  These events range from educational (e.g. afternoon tea and NZ culture quiz), social (e.g. bus trips to various locations like MissionBay), and cultural experiences (e.g. a hangi and maori cultural performance) and/or a mixture of all three.

Through these events Kiwi Contax has developed a support network to help build an ongoing relationship of assistance in relation to housing, residency issues, and employment, as well as emotional and social support.
